Dear DanceSport Community.

Having regard to the possible and quite probable effect on travel and other associated costs for competitors in what is predicted to be an even more   volatile financial climate together with the close proximity of the scheduled date to the World Championship in Melbourne and contrasting this with the enormous production costs of staging the “South Pacific”[a self-funded event]  at Darling Harbour and maintaining its usual high quality of presentation, it is with great reluctance that the Directors of the Federal Association have determined to err on the side of caution and postpone the conduct of the 67th South Pacific DanceSport Championship until 2013.

The F.A.T.D. Directorate is very mindful of, and thankful for the great support that the event has been given over the years and particularly so during the recent years of re-invigoration.

The Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre has also recently announced a 1 Billion Dollar expansion program for the precinct scheduled to commencein August that inadvertently will have the South Pacific Dancesport Championship looking for a new home for the next 3 years until the expansion program is complete .Disappointing though this decision may be for many Dancesport enthusiasts we trust to have your understanding and will certainly await the opportunity to welcome your attendance at the “South Pacific” in 2013.

Yours in Dance

On Behalf of the Directors of The Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing (Australia ) Ltd.
